Old Edwardians End Star Sport Academy’s Unbeaten Run with 2-0 Victory

The remarkable 11-game unbeaten streak of Star Sport Academy came to a dramatic end at the SLFA Academy Field, as Old Edwardians FC delivered a commanding 2-0 victory to hand the league leaders their first defeat of the season.

Widely regarded as untouchable after weeks of dominant performances, Star Sport Academy were brought back to earth by a disciplined and clinical Old Edwardians side, popularly known as the “May Park Boys,” who executed a near-perfect game plan to dismantle the frontrunners.

From the opening whistle, Old Edwardians showed no sign of intimidation, pressing aggressively and disrupting Star Sport’s creative rhythm. Their approach paid off when James Jusu Kanja broke the deadlock, giving his side a crucial first-half advantage and rattling a Star Sport team unaccustomed to chasing games.

As Star Sport pushed forward in search of an equalizer, they were caught on the counter-attack, allowing Daniel Karim to double Old Edwardians’ lead and effectively seal all three points.

The victory was anchored by a resolute defensive display, with Old Edwardians’ backline producing a masterclass to deny Star Sport any clear scoring opportunities. It marked the first time in several months that the league leaders failed to find the back of the net.

Midfield dynamo Dauda Kamara was instrumental in the famous win and was deservedly named Man of the Match. His tireless work rate, tactical discipline, and ability to transition defense into attack proved vital in neutralizing Star Sport’s threats and driving Old Edwardians forward.

Despite the setback, Star Sport Academy remain at the summit of the league table, though their lead has now narrowed, intensifying the title race. For Old Edwardians, the victory provides a massive morale boost and further cements their growing reputation as giant killers.

With the season entering a crucial phase, attention now shifts to how Star Sport Academy will respond to their first defeat, while Old Edwardians will be eager to build on a performance that could define their campaign.
