Owl CEO Dauda Bangura to attend London Fashion Week in recognition of gender empowerment work

Dauda Bangura, CEO of Owl newspaper and former Commissioner of the Independent Media Commission (IMC), has been invited by Diana Dahlia PR, an accredited member of the British Fashion Council and an official London Fashion Week partner 2023, to attend this year's London Fashion Week, which begins tomorrow.

The theme of this year's London Fashion Week’s event by Dahlia PR is "Unity in Diversity," reflecting fashion's embrace of cultural differences. The event also seeks to showcase the transformative capabilities of empowerment through entertainment, specifically the allure of designs.

Mr. Bangura will be traveling under the patronage of football aficionado and former SLFA president Isha Johansen, who is a pioneer and key facilitator in bringing Sierra Leone to the international stage at the "All Things Fashion - Fashionista Event." She has been working to positively contribute to the development of society, whether through sports, arts, culture, or entertainment, paving the way for Sierra Leone to be recognized at the international level in terms of arts and culture.

Mr. Bangura, who has been championing Ms. Johansen's ventures, including the "Football for Reform Initiative," which supports gender empowerment and rehabilitation of young women at the Sierra Leone Women Correctional Center, through football and fashion, has been applauded by many, including the London Fashion Week 2023 partners.

He and Ms. Johansen have ensured that the fashion designs and accessories created by ladies at the Sierra Leone Women Correctional Center will be on display and on the runway show at the London Fashion Week on September 16, 2023, as an opportunity for the fashion world to recognize the skills and talents of the incarcerated women at the Sierra Leone Women Correctional Center.

The platform will be graced by other global media personalities at the event, who are also bent on showcasing an array of talented fashion designers and accessories, as an expression of their creativity but also rehabilitating themselves through football and fashion.
