Parliament Summons Defense Chief Over Controversial Land Grabbing Allegations

ree

Parliament has issued a summons to the Chief of Defense Staff regarding land grabbing issues, which contradict the flagship agenda of President Bio.

In a unified resolution, Members of Parliament, led by Acting Speaker Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, have summoned the Chief of Defense Staff, Lieutenant General Amara Idara Bangura, and the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, to address the alleged attempt to demolish property on the Services Secondary School land to transfer it to a business entity.

Deputy Opposition Leader, Hon. Daniel Brima Koroma, emphasized that the Bio-led Government's key initiative is Human Capital Development, alongside Free Quality Education.

He urged Members of Parliament to protect educational institutions, describing the actions of the Chief of Defense Staff as a "sardonic move" that undermines the government's agenda and disrespects both Parliament and President Bio.

He proposed the formation of a Special Interest Committee to address the issue.

Acting Speaker Conteh suggested that the Committees of Defence, Education, and Lands conduct an investigation, directing the Clerk of Parliament to formally summon the Chief of Defense Staff.
