Person Accused of Arson Referred to High Court

Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon of Pademba Road Court No. 3 has referred Sahr Emmanuel Borbor to the High Court for trial on arson charges.

The defendant was apprehended and charged on February 14, 2025, with arson, in violation of Section 3 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

Details of the offense allege that on Wednesday, November 9, 2024, at No. 21 Vincent Drive, Second Hill, Kallon Drive, Spur Loop, Wilberforce, Freetown, Sahr Emmanuel Borbor intentionally set fire to two residential properties owned by Osman Sama Banya with the aim of destroying them.

During the preliminary hearing, Prosecutor Inspector T. Macfoy presented four witnesses, including the complainant, two factual witnesses, and the investigating police officer.

In her decision, Magistrate Kallon stated, “I am satisfied with the evidence presented by the prosecution, and the accused has been cross-examined. Therefore, I hereby commit the matter to the High Court for trial.” 

Borbor will remain in custody until his trial in the High Court.
