Dr. Brian Conton, a respected medical doctor in Sierra Leone, has initiated legal proceedings against Dura Sapateh Fofana for alleged online harassment and bullying.
According to a police report, on Saturday, June 29, 2024, within the Judicial District of the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the accused used a WhatsApp account (number 078383131) under the name Dura Sapateh Fofana to create and disseminate harassing text messages targeting Dr. Brian Conton of 79 Smart Farm, Wilkinson Road, Freetown. These messages were transmitted via a computer system or network with the intent to bully Dr. Conton, potentially causing harm to his reputation among respected members of society.
Consequently, the accused was summoned to appear before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown to face two charges of cyberstalking and cyberbullying. However, the accused failed to appear during Monday's court session.
In response to the accused's absence, the prosecutor, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joan Bull, requested a bench warrant.
Magistrate Kekura approved the application for a bench warrant against the accused.
The matter has been adjourned until December 13, 2024, with the bench warrant remaining in effect.
