Police Receives 10 Motorbikes from Türkiye to Enhance Mobility

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) received ten motorbikes from the Government of Türkiye through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The donation aims to boost police mobility and improve operational response times across the country, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu expressed deep gratitude to Türkiye and TİKA for their continued partnership. He noted that rapid transportation is critical to effective community policing and prompt security intervention.
Recalling previous capacity-building initiatives facilitated by TİKA following his initial meeting with Turkish Ambassador Yusuf Bukar Rende, Sellu reassured officials that the donated vehicles would be strictly utilized to enhance logistics and service delivery.
In his remarks, Ambassador Rende reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations rooted in mutual respect.
Describing the donation as a tangible manifestation of support for Sierra Leone's security sector, Rende commended the SLP leadership and expressed willingness to explore further avenues of joint cooperation to aid national development and public safety.
