Residents of several communities in Kenema witnessed a heightened police presence today as part of ongoing visibility patrols aimed at strengthening public confidence and improving local security.
The patrol exercise, which covered Dama Road, Kamara Town, Samuel Town, Koroma Street, Blama Road, and surrounding areas, was conducted under the leadership of Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Kpulun, Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Kenema Division. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to implement proactive policing and deter criminal activities within the municipality.
During the patrols, officers engaged directly with community members, fostering trust and encouraging the sharing of vital information to aid crime prevention efforts. Residents expressed appreciation for the increased presence of law enforcement, describing it as timely and reassuring amid growing security concerns.
Chief Superintendent Kpulun emphasized that these patrols are part of a continuous effort to maintain law and order. He reiterated the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged the public to collaborate by reporting any suspicious activities.
The operation also highlighted the importance of community-oriented policing, an approach that positions officers not just as enforcers of the law, but as partners in ensuring safety. Police leadership stressed that such engagement is essential for building lasting relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
As the patrols continue, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and supportive, reinforcing the idea that collective responsibility is key in the fight against crime.
