President Bio Engages with New SLFA Executive, Pledges Active Support for Football Revival

President Julius Maada Bio today met with the newly elected executive of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) at State House, signaling a renewed commitment to the nation's most popular sport.

The President, who has previously maintained a distance from footballing activities due to what he described as incessant politicking and leanings, expressed his readiness to actively participate in the sport's development given the composition of the new leadership.

The SLFA's new President, Mr. Babadi Kamara, presented his executive team and outlined a bold vision for the association.

During his presentation, Mr. Kamara articulated several key priorities aimed at revitalizing Sierra Leonean football.

These include fostering greater collaboration, robust resource mobilization, and forging strategic partnerships, particularly with mining companies operating within the country.

A central tenet of Mr. Kamara's vision is comprehensive sports development, to be undertaken in conjunction with the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Sports.

Specific initiatives highlighted were the revitalization of the inter-secondary school league and the inter-district leagues, crucial breeding grounds for future talent.

He further underscored the critical importance of discipline, sound financial management, and unwavering accountability within the football administration.

President Bio warmly congratulated the new executive team and assured them of his unwavering support, marking a significant turning point in the relationship between the government and the national football governing body.

This engagement suggests a promising future for Sierra Leonean football, with a unified effort to steer the sport towards success and greater transparency.
