President Julius Maada Bio on Thursday, 15 January 2026, engaged Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) at State House as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the government and the private sector.
The engagement formed part of the administration’s broader approach to maintaining open lines of communication with key economic stakeholders, particularly sectors that play a critical role in national development and service delivery.
During the meeting, President Bio emphasized the importance of oil marketing companies to Sierra Leone’s economy, noting that the sector directly affects the daily lives of citizens and therefore requires sustained attention and continuous dialogue.
“This year, I am not only acting; I want to act with haste. If we are to work together, we must continue to engage in dialogue,” the President said.
He described oil marketers as key development partners and explained that the engagement was intended to listen to their concerns, review the state of the partnership, and jointly explore ways to deepen cooperation.
“We are here to listen to you, to understand your concerns, assess our partnership, and explore how we can further strengthen it,” President Bio stated.
The President stressed that consistent engagement between government and private sector actors is essential for mutual understanding, improved service delivery, and sustainable economic growth. He added that the meeting would serve as a foundation for continued dialogue going forward.
Chief Minister Dr David Moinina Sengeh said the engagement was convened at the President’s initiative, highlighting the strategic importance of oil marketing companies as major contributors to the national economy and the government’s development agenda.
He noted that regular consultations of this nature help align government policies with private sector realities while reinforcing confidence in the business environment.
The meeting forms part of the administration’s broader commitment to promoting private sector growth through partnership, dialogue, and inclusive economic management, as the government continues to engage stakeholders across critical sectors of the economy.
