President Dr. Julius Maada Bio officially launched the $150 million Livestock and Livelihoods Development Project (LLDP) and inaugurated Rural Farm Radio 98.9 FM in Kambia District on October 31, 2025, during the World Food Day commemorations. The event convened agricultural stakeholders, community representatives, and government officials to underscore advancements in agricultural development and food security initiatives across the region.

During the proceedings, President Bio also released the second-year progress report for the Feed Salone Initiative, which monitors the government’s strategies to enhance farming methodologies and bolster local food production. As a key component of the Livestock Project, diverse new crop varieties were disseminated to farmers to facilitate farm diversification and improve overall yields.

Rural Farm Radio 98.9 FM was established to furnish farmers with real-time advisory services. The station will broadcast essential information concerning farming techniques, market trends, and effective crop management, thereby empowering farmers to make data-driven decisions and optimize their productivity.

The event further featured an exhibition of locally sourced agricultural products, celebrating the commitment and expertise of Sierra Leonean farmers. The display highlighted the quality and variety of produce cultivated in the region, reaffirming the strategic importance of supporting domestic agriculture and strengthening rural livelihoods.

Through these comprehensive programs, the government remains dedicated to supporting agricultural producers, improving national food production, and promoting sustainable farming practices throughout Sierra Leone.
