President Bio to Host 69th ECOWAS Summit at Lungi Conference Centre

Sierra Leone is set to host a major regional diplomatic gathering as President Julius Maada Bio prepares to welcome Heads of State and Government for the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority on July 19, 2026.

The high-level summit will be held at the newly constructed Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre in Lungi, a state-of-the-art facility expected to serve as a key venue for regional cooperation, dialogue, and international engagements.

Ahead of the summit, Freetown is expected to welcome regional leaders, government ministers, and officials from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Several statutory meetings will take place in the capital in the days leading up to the main event, with discussions expected to focus on critical regional issues, including economic development, political stability, and security.
