In an act of community outreach and remembrance, Punjab Trading Centre, a prominent distillery company based in Kenema, organized a free feeding program on August 31, 2025.
The event, which provided meals to over 1,500 people across Kenema, was held in memorial of the company's former Chief Executive Officer, the late Mr. Boota Singh who passed away on August 7, 2018, in Kenema.
This initiative is part of Punjab Trading Company's ongoing social impact activities, aimed at celebrating community support and honoring their esteemed former leader.
Madam Victoria V. Bernard, manager of Punjab Trading Company, emphasized the company's long-standing commitment to positively impacting the lives of people in the community and nationwide.
"For many years, Punjab as a company has been consistent with positively affecting the lives of people around the community and the country at large," stated Madam Bernard. "And in our own unique way, we always ensure we bring some joy and happiness to those who need it the most, especially during challenging times."
The feeding program attracted a diverse crowd, including numerous youths, elderly individuals, and lactating mothers from across Kenema. This event aligns with the company's regular practice of paying homage to the late CEO Boota Singh and providing support to the needy and most deprived members of society.
Similar acts of kindness have been a hallmark of Punjab Trading Company's community engagement. Last year, the company facilitated free computer training and certification for 24 school-going girls in Kenema.
The chairman of the Niawama community expressed profound gratitude upon accepting the gesture, stating, "We are grateful and happy that you are always thinking about the community and this company has extended a hand of support to us. This feeding will go a long way to make life a lot more bearable to us."
Amadu, the youth chairman, added, "You have put smiles on the faces of the entire Kenemaians. We pray that you will be empowered to do more for us and for humanity."
The program concluded with an address by Mr. Jaffer Singh, the son of the late CEO and current substantive CEO of Punjab Trading Company. Mr. Singh appreciated the entire gathering for their continuous commitment and support throughout the company's existence.
The event, despite challenging weather, culminated in joy and celebrations.
