A man who falsely claimed to know the whereabouts of a missing child to defraud a distressed parent has been sentenced to three years in prison. Musa Kambia received the custodial sentence from Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1, following his conviction for obtaining money by false pretenses.

The court heard that Kambia approached Christian Alphaso Gilo Blake on Saturday, April 11, 2025, at Pademba Road, Freetown. Kambia, with clear intent to defraud, falsely asserted knowledge of Mr. Blake's missing son, Charles Blake. Under this deception, Kambia managed to obtain the sum of twenty-five Leones (NLe 25) from the distraught father.

Kambia was brought before the court on April 19, 2025, after being charged by Sergeant 8975 Bangura I.S. The conviction was made under Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

During the proceedings, Magistrate Jah meticulously reviewed the presented evidence, which included witness testimonies and cross-examinations. The magistrate determined that the evidence against Kambia was compelling, leaving sufficient grounds for a conviction.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah emphasized that the gravity of the offense necessitated a custodial sentence to ensure justice was served. Consequently, Musa Kambia was remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown to serve his three-year term.
