Leone Stars Touch Down in Guinea-Bissau with Panache Aboard Chartered Flight

The Leone Stars, Sierra Leone's national football team, departed the shores of Freetown International Airport on Monday, September 1st, 2025, in a display of national pride and comfort, arriving safely in Guinea-Bissau.

Their journey, undertaken on a chartered Air Sierra Leone flight, sets the stage for a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers for Africa fixture against the Djurtus on September 4th, 2025.

This significant backing has been fully supported by the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA).

Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, the astute head of the NSA, commented on this development, stating:

"The Ministry of Sports, NSA, and SLFA are meticulously collaborating to re-establish Leone Stars as a formidable national asset and a source of immense pride for all Sierra Leoneans. We are relentlessly exploring further avenues to elevate the team."

Team Manager Abdul Karim Bangura, affectionately known as AKB, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the government for this preferential treatment, emphasizing the seamless nature of their journey to Guinea-Bissau.

The National Sports Authority, established by an Act of Parliament, holds the vital mandate to champion, cultivate, and oversee all sports and sporting endeavors across Sierra Leone.
