The Tankoro Police Division continues its active investigation into the alleged murder of Fea Korwah, who died between June 26 and June 29, 2026, in Manjama Town, Soa Chiefdom. The primary suspect, Aiah Fayai, remains in police custody as authorities work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death.
The remains of 30-year-old Fea Korwah were discovered in a locked room in Manjama Town. Her death followed a visit from Aiah Fayai, though the nature of their relationship remains unclear.
Inspector John Saidu Koroma, Officer in Charge of the Kainkordu Police Post, reported that the suspect was apprehended at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in Kaakongor Village, Sawa Fiama Section.
Speaking on the case, Information Officer Mr. Sourie explained that the investigation faces complications due to the absence of a post-mortem examination prior to the burial. While police secured a preliminary medical report from the Community Health Officer at the Manjama Health Facility, the condition of the body at the time of discovery has necessitated further forensic scrutiny.
To ensure a comprehensive legal process, the police have requested the intervention of the national pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma.
Authorities are currently coordinating with relevant state officials to facilitate a potential exhumation for a formal forensic examination and certification of the cause of death.
Mr. Sourie emphasized that the police cannot independently determine the cause of death, noting that these findings must be established by medical experts in accordance with the law.
Investigators have gathered evidence which is being prepared for legal review by the State Counsel, a critical step before any charges can be brought before the court.
Addressing public concerns regarding the pace of the investigation, Mr. Sourie appealed for patience and cooperation.
He urged the public to refrain from circulating unverified information, reiterating the police department's commitment to ensuring justice for the family of Fea Korwah.
