The Sierra Leone beach volleyball team is preparing for the Olympic qualifiers in Banjul, Gambia, this November. They aim to make history by qualifying for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The team, composed of players from all over Sierra Leone, has been training hard for months and says it is confident in their abilities.
"We are very excited to be preparing for the Olympic qualifiers," said team member Fatmata Binta Bah. "We have been working hard and we are confident that we can make Sierra Leone proud."
The team will compete in a series of qualifiers in November, with the top three teams from each qualifier advancing to the Olympic tournament.
"We know that it will be difficult, but we are determined to qualify for the Olympics," said Sorie Kamara. "We are representing Sierra Leone and we want to make our country proud."
The team is receiving support from the Sierra Leone Volleyball Federation and the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone.
"We are very grateful for the support of the Volleyball Federation and the government," said Kamara. "Their support has been essential to our success."
They hope that their success will inspire other young people in Sierra Leone to take up volleyball.
"We want to show other young people in Sierra Leone that anything is possible if you work hard," said Kamara. "We want to inspire them to dream big and to never give up on their dreams."
The Sierra Leone beach volleyball team is a source of pride for the country and they are hoping to make history by qualifying for the Olympic Games.
