The Sierra Leone Gymnastics Federation (SLGF) concluded a one-day training for gymnasts on Wednesday, October 26, 2023, at the Hill Valley Hotel, Goderich in Freetown.
The training was held for school-going pupils in preparation for the fundamental introduction of aerobics elements for gymnastics, who are aiming for a top career in the discipline and was conducted by an experienced international aerobics expert, Eva Azloboda, who noted the importance of aerobics training from an international perspective.
They covered a wide range of gymnastics disciplines, including artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline gymnastics with coaching of the highest caliber and the certification ceremony that culminated the event.
"I am very happy with the training that I have received," said one of the gymnasts. "The aerobics expert was very knowledgeable and experienced, and she has helped me to improve my skills a lot."
The SLGF is confident that its gymnasts will perform well in upcoming African Gymnastics Championships.
"We have a very talented group of gymnasts," said the president of the Sierra Leone Gymnastics Federation, Hannah Williams. "They have worked very hard during the training, and I am confident that they will represent Sierra Leone well at the African Gymnastics Championships among many other things."
The SLGF is calling on all Sierra Leoneans to support the gymnasts as they prepare to compete in major competitions anytime soon.
"We need the support of all Sierra Leoneans as we prepare to compete in key championships," said the president of the SLGF. "With your support, we know that our gymnasts can do well."
