Sierra Leone Patriots Secure Six-Wicket Win Over Ghana in T20 Series

Sierra Leone’s Men’s Patriots have revived their campaign in the Nigeria T20 Quadrangular Series with a composed six-wicket victory over Ghana at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.

The Patriots entered Tuesday’s encounter looking to bounce back from their recent results and delivered an all-round performance, controlling the match from the bowling innings through to the successful run chase.

Ghana struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Sierra Leone attack and finished their 20 overs on 85 runs for eight wickets.

Sierra Leone then chased down the target, reaching 86 for four in 18.1 overs to secure a six-wicket victory and end their five-month wait for a win.

Several Sierra Leone players also continue to feature prominently in the tournament’s individual statistics.

Pace bowler George Sesay remains at the top of the Most Valuable Player standings, with fellow Sierra Leonean Alusine Sesay also among the leading performers.

George Sesay has taken four wickets from two innings and currently has an economy rate of 4.62, while his bowling average stands at 9.25. His 13 dot balls further highlight his effectiveness in restricting opposing batters.

Sierra Leone’s strong performance has also extended to the fielding statistics, with Eric Musa Sesay currently leading the fielding charts after recording four dismissals in two matches.

Following the victory over Ghana, the Patriots will turn their attention to their next fixture against hosts Nigeria tomorrow.

The encounter will provide Sierra Leone with another opportunity to build momentum as they continue their campaign in the six-day tournament in Lagos.
