Sierra Leone’s Alhassan Koroma Bids Farewell to Al Shahaniya Club and Qatar Stars League

Sierra Leonean forward Alhassan Koroma has officially bid farewell to Qatari side Al Shahaniya Club, expressing gratitude to the management, coaching staff, teammates, fans, and officials who supported him during his stay in the Qatar Stars League (QSL).

In a heartfelt message, Koroma described his time with the club as both an “honor and a privilege,” noting that the experience not only shaped him as a professional footballer but also contributed greatly to his personal growth.

“Every training session, every match, every challenge they’ve all shaped me and left memories I’ll carry with pride,” he said.

Koroma gave special thanks to his agent Ahmed Hussain for his support, as well as Dr. Ahmed Al Abbasi, the Executive Director of Competitions and Football Development in the QSL, for trusting and believing in his potential. He also extended appreciation to Qatar’s Ministry of Sports and Sheikh Jassim Al Thani for their continuous efforts in developing football and creating opportunities for players.

Although moving on to a new chapter in his career, the Leone Stars striker assured fans that Al Shahaniya will always hold a special place in his heart.

“I leave with nothing but appreciation and respect, and I’ll continue to follow the club’s progress and cheer you on from afar,” he added.

Koroma also praised Qatar for its role in shaping some of his best footballing moments, praying for the country’s peace and prosperity: “God protect Qatar and keep Qatar safe. Thanks to Qatar for everything.”

The 24-year-old, who has represented Sierra Leone at international level, is now set to focus on the next phase of his career after his successful stint in Qatar.

Alhassan Koroma has since signed for UAE Pro League side FC Baniyas on a free transfer. The move presents him with a fresh opportunity to showcase his skills in one of the Middle East’s most competitive leagues, and fans back home will be eagerly following his progress as he begins this exciting new chapter.
