Samuel Conteh, 22, Sierra Leone's pioneering foreign cricket club player, recently met with ICC world number one all-rounder, Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe, and shared his valuable experience.

The encounter took place on Tuesday during an afternoon training session at the ICC Dubai Academy, where both players were preparing for the Sharjah Warriorz Franchise Club.

Reflecting on the meeting, Conteh stated: "A remarkable moment occurred during training today with the arrival of Sikandar Raza. Before he even settled in, I approached him to introduce myself. What transpired next was truly unexpected."

"Mr. Raza was already aware of my identity; he recognised my home country and even recalled my statistics from international tournaments, including my ICC ranking during the bilateral series in Lagos, Nigeria, in October 2021."

"This was an immensely proud moment for me and serves as a significant source of motivation to continue striving for excellence daily."

The 22-year-old has been in Dubai for eight days, following his role in leading Sierra Leone's historic participation in the ILT20, a league that features globally renowned cricket stars.

Conteh expressed his commitment to building a formidable network among the international stars in Dubai to contribute to the advancement of cricket in Sierra Leone.

Conteh's team has completed seven training sessions and one practice match against Dubai Capital in preparation for the ILT20 Season 4 Franchise League, scheduled to run from December 2 to December 24, 2025.
