Sierra Leone Swimmer Ola Sets National Record in Thailand Training

Sierra Leonean Olympian Ola, 26, is continuing her pursuit of elite performance on the international stage, showing significant improvement while training in Thailand ahead of major upcoming competitions.

Since her participation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Ola has recorded notable progress across all swimming strokes, following a World Aquatics Scholarship that enabled her to train at the Thanyapura High Performance Centre in Thailand.

Her development has been evident in recent performances at Asian Swimming Championship events, where she demonstrated improved speed and technique across multiple disciplines.

According to performance records, Ola has reduced her time in the 100m breaststroke by nearly 10 seconds and improved her 100m freestyle by about four seconds, alongside gains in other events. She has also set a new national record for Sierra Leone in the women’s 100m breaststroke, clocking 1:42.10.

The improvements mark a significant milestone in her sporting career and highlight her growing competitiveness on the international swimming circuit.

Ola is now preparing to represent Sierra Leone at the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games in July, where she is expected to compete in the women’s 50m and 100m freestyle events.

Her continued progress is being viewed as a positive sign for Sierra Leone’s presence in international aquatics competitions, as she builds on her Olympic experience and training exposure in high-performance environments.
