SLFA Hails U-17 Girls After Historic Victory Over Ivory Coast

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, together with other officials, has warmly received the Sierra Leone U-17 Girls team following their historic 2–1 victory over Ivory Coast in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.


The match result marks a significant milestone for Sierra Leone football, as it is the first time the country has defeated Ivory Coast at this level of competition. Kamara praised the players for their talent, discipline, and continued development, describing the achievement as a proud moment for the nation.


The team also received commendation from government and football authorities, including the Minister of Sport, Madam Augusta James-Teima, who conveyed congratulations on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio.


According to officials, the victory has sparked widespread national pride, with celebrations and messages of support pouring in from across the country.


The U-17 Girls now shift their focus to their next challenge against Benin in the upcoming round of qualifiers, as they continue their quest for a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
