Sierra Leone’s U-17 women’s national team has successfully progressed to the second round of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. This achievement follows a resilient performance against Ivory Coast, where the team secured a 2–1 victory after trailing in the initial stages of the match.

The fixture, held at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, saw Sierra Leone demonstrate exceptional tactical discipline to overturn a 1–0 deficit and confirm their victory within regulation time.

Following this success, the team is scheduled to face Benin in the subsequent qualifying phase. The first leg of this encounter will take place between May 22nd and 24th, with the decisive second leg to follow between May 29th and 31st, 2026.

The aggregate winner of the Sierra Leone-Benin series will advance to the final qualifying round. There, they will compete against either Nigeria or the winner of the Niger-Guinea fixture for a prestigious spot in the global tournament.

Victorious teams from the final round will represent the African continent at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, joining the host nation, Morocco.
