Sheku Samura Charged with Unlawful Military Materiel Possession

Sheku Samura, a gardener by profession, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1. The defendant has been transferred to the custody of the Mammy Queen of Benguma Military Barracks following initial proceedings.


The defendant faces charges concerning the unlawful possession of military materiel, pursuant to Section 13(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act, as amended by Section 5 of Act No. 6 of 1981.


The prosecution alleges that on March 31, 2026, at Maburon Village, Western Rural Area, Mr. Samura was discovered in possession of various military-issue items without the requisite legal authorization.


The seized items include a decommissioned military bed roll, a service cap, a military coat, and additional related paraphernalia.


Upon the formal reading of the indictment, the defendant entered a plea of not guilty to all charges.


Magistrate Jah has ordered that the defendant remain in the custody of the Benguma Military Barracks authorities. The matter has been adjourned until April 27, 2026, for further deliberation.
