Security Professional Charged With Stealing Of Over Nle 1Million

On April 18, 2026, Godwill Brown, a 28-year-old security professional, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown. Mr. Brown stands accused of executing a significant residential burglary.
The defendant faces two counts of larceny in a dwelling house, pursuant to Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916. The allegations have drawn considerable attention due to the scale of the reported theft.
The prosecution alleges that on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, the defendant unlawfully entered a residence at No. 42 Regent Road, Wilberforce. During this incident, he purportedly misappropriated funds belonging to Nancy Kamara, totaling $30,000 USD, 17,070 EUR, and 710 GBP.
The cumulative valuation of the assets reported stolen from the first complainant is estimated to exceed Le1,212,142.
Furthermore, the defendant is accused of stealing an additional $5,000 USD (valued at Le118,500) from the same location on the same date, which was the property of Haja Umu Jalloh.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie, lead prosecutor, confirmed that the defense had been served with the relevant case documentation. The prosecution requested a brief adjournment to facilitate the appearance of a primary witness currently under subpoena.
Magistrate Fornah denied the defense's application for bail, citing the gravity of the charges and the imperative of judicial integrity.
The court ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody at the Freetown male correctional facility. The proceedings are scheduled to resume on April 28, 2026, as the judiciary continues its investigation into the matter.
