Sierra Leone’s National U-17 girls football team returned home to a hero’s welcome after clinching the 2025 WAFU-A Tournament title in Monrovia, Liberia.


The victorious delegation was received by SLFA Vice President 1, Alie Badara Tarawallie, and Minister of Sports, Augusta James-Teima, who joined in celebrating the team’s remarkable achievements.




The champions were lauded for their outstanding performance, securing not only the trophy but also multiple individual awards, including Best Player, Top Goal Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, and several Woman of the Match honors.

Head of Delegation and Women’s Football Chair, Haja Ramatulai Kamara, expressed gratitude to SLFA President Babadi Kamara and the Executive Committee for their unwavering support, highlighting that the U-17s have now brought home two international titles and are aiming for more.


Vice President Tarawallie, receiving the trophy on behalf of the SLFA President, praised both the players and technical staff, while announcing that the Women’s Premier League will become the country’s most highly sponsored competition.

Minister James-Teima, representing the government, conveyed President Julius Maada Bio’s pride in the team’s success and contributed NLe 5,000 in support.
