Sierra Leone has etched its name into the annals of sporting history as two of its finest cyclists, Ibrahim Jalloh and Mustapha Koroma, made their nation's inaugural appearance at the prestigious UCI Road World Championships.

The duo’s presence in Kigali marks a monumental step forward for cycling in the West African nation.

Jalloh, a picture of grit and determination, bravely tackled the formidable men's elite individual time trial. His challenge: a grueling 40.6 km course that boasted a punishing 680 meters of elevation gain, including the infamous ascents of Côte de Nyanza, Côte de Kigali Golf, and Côte de Kimihuruta.

While Koroma faced unforeseen logistical hurdles that prevented him from starting the time trial, both riders remain undeterred, their sights firmly set on upcoming events later in the Championships.

Competing on the same hallowed tarmac as cycling titans like Remco Evenepoel and Tadej Pogačar, Sierra Leone's trailblazing cyclists showcased not only their athletic prowess but also an inspiring display of national pride.

This historic debut transcends mere participation; it is a powerful statement, a beacon of hope for future generations of Sierra Leonean riders, proving that the world stage is within reach.
