Sierra Leone’s U-17 national team, the Sierra Stars, have begun preparations for the upcoming WAFU-A U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Senegal.
Preparations began with regional trials aimed at identifying promising young talents from across the country. All five regional football associations participated in the talent identification exercise, organised by the SLFA Technical Department as part of efforts to assemble a strong and competitive squad for the qualifiers.
Following the successful completion of the regional trials, the selected players have since assembled and begun training as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament.
Sierra Leone have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Senegal, Mauritania and The Gambia.
The WAFU-A U-17 tournament is scheduled to take place in Senegal from September 7 to 20, 2026, with participating teams competing for qualification to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Sierra Stars will now step up their preparations as they seek to build a competitive squad, perform strongly on the regional stage and secure a place at the continental finals.
With the tournament fast approaching, the young Sierra Leonean players will be looking to showcase their talent and make the country proud.
