The Sierra Leone Kabaddi Association, represented by Technical Director and Chairman Sonny Johnson, has formally presented its delegation to the National Sports Authority (NSA). The championship, organized by the Avtar Singh Bal Memorial Sports Club, was a highly competitive event featuring a reported prize of $16,000. Reflecting on the team’s performance, Mr. Johnson noted that Sierra Leone’s achievements in India have significantly enhanced the association’s international standing. Furthermore, he disclosed that the organizers have offered additional opportunities, including a formal invitation to the Kabaddi World Cup, scheduled for November of this year.
The Director of Participation, Steven Keifala, confirmed that the Sierra Leone Kabaddi Association maintains full registration with the NSA and consistently adheres to all official activities sanctioned by the Authority. He commended the association’s leadership and athletes for their commitment to established governance frameworks and their active role in national sports development initiatives.
Dr. Abdulai Rahman Swaray, Deputy Executive Director of the NSA, praised the association for its exemplary representation of Sierra Leone internationally. He expressed a growing appreciation for the discipline, observing that while Kabaddi originated in India, the Sierra Leone Kabaddi Association has been instrumental in raising its profile through international demonstrations and participation.
