Five Charged Over Le1.1bn Diesel Theft and Tanker Damage in Port Loko

Five accused individuals have appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at a court sitting on 20 April 2026, facing multiple criminal charges including conspiracy to commit a felony, larceny by servant, malicious damage, and receiving stolen goods.
The accused persons include Osman Saccioh (38), a driver; Abdul Rahman Lahai (25), a vehicle conductor; and three businessmen Mohamed Alie Jalloh (39), Alusine Bah (39), and Ibrahim Sankoh (39).
According to court records, the alleged offences were committed on 12 February 2026 at Makosseh Village in Koya Chiefdom, Port Loko District, North-Western Sierra Leone.
The court heard that the accused allegedly conspired with unknown persons to commit felony larceny. It is further alleged that Osman Saccioh and Abdul Rahman Lahai, who were employed as servants by Ibrahim Sorie Saccoh, stole 39,645 litres of diesel valued at Le1,129,882 from Saccoh’s property.
Prosecutors also told the court that on the same date at Makabah Village in Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Saccioh and Lahai allegedly caused malicious damage to a Mercedes Benz tanker with registration number AWR 472, owned by Saccoh.
The damaged parts reportedly included the right-side door glass, front windscreen, left-side door glass, right side mirror, fuel tank, chassis, front and rear tyres, cab sun shield, and front bumper. The total cost of the damage was estimated at Le286,370.
In addition, Mohamed Alie Jalloh, Alusine Bah, and Ibrahim Sankoh are accused of receiving the stolen diesel, knowing it to be unlawfully obtained.
When the charges were read in court, no plea was entered on behalf of the accused persons.
Defense counsel applied for bail, and Magistrate Jah granted bail to the third, fourth and fifth defendants(reresented by one counsel) but refused bail to the first and second defendants.
The matter has been adjourned to 22 April 2026 for further hearing.
