The Sierra Leone Association of the Blind (SLAB) will hold its first-ever Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kenema City on 17 December 2025, bringing together members of the blind community from across the country and the diaspora.
According to organizers, the AGM aims to provide a platform to discuss critical issues affecting blind and visually impaired persons, including rights, inclusion, empowerment, and development opportunities.
Kenema was selected as the host city due to its active branch structure, engaged membership, and the progressive measures taken by local authorities to promote disability inclusion.
The event will feature discussions on accessibility and education, skills training and employment opportunities, human rights, legal support, and collaboration with national and international partners.
SLAB leadership noted that the AGM is a key step in advancing equal rights and full participation of blind persons in national development.
Local stakeholders and government officials are expected to attend the opening ceremony, with organizers hoping the outcomes will inform stronger national policies on disability inclusion.
