In partnership with FIFA, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially inaugurated the 2026 FIFA MA Course for Youth Referees in Bo City, demonstrating a strategic dedication to developing the next generation of match officials.
The opening ceremony was led by SLFA First Vice President Alie Badara Tarawallie, who addressed participants on behalf of SLFA President Babadi Kamara and the Executive Committee. In his remarks, Mr. Tarawallie highlighted the vital importance of discipline and professional commitment, noting that the curriculum is tailored to prepare referees for success at both national and international levels.
The program, facilitated by FIFA instructors Ali Mohamed Ahmed (Technical) and Bento Tomas Navesse (Fitness), incorporates comprehensive classroom instruction and practical field training. These sessions are designed to elevate technical proficiency, decision-making capabilities, physical fitness, and overall performance standards.
The training program runs from June 26 to June 30, 2026, and serves as a precursor to the FIFA MA Course for Elite Referees, scheduled for July 1 to July 5, 2026. This initiative is central to the SLFA’s broader strategy to enhance refereeing standards and cultivate officials qualified to represent Sierra Leone in elite international football competitions.
