The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, departed Freetown on Thursday, January 15, 2026, en route to Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the highly anticipated TotalEnergies AFCON 2026 Final between Senegal and host nation Morocco.
Beyond attending the final, President Kamara’s trip underscores Sierra Leone’s growing presence in continental football and represents a key strategic engagement at the highest level of African football governance.
On January 16, 2026, Kamara is scheduled to hold an in-person meeting with the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), alongside other Member Association Presidents. The discussions will focus on the future of African football, development frameworks, and collaborative efforts to strengthen the sport across the continent.
President Kamara’s dual role witnessing the AFCON final and participating in CAF leadership discussions reflects his commitment to positioning Sierra Leonean football at the heart of continental conversations. His trip reinforces the SLFA’s vision of active participation, strong partnerships, and progressive leadership, as the country continues its journey toward football growth and excellence.
