Babadi Kamara, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), recently held critical discussions with Drucil Taylor, a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Committee and former Chairman of the SLFA Ethics Board. This strategic engagement is part of ongoing efforts to achieve a definitive conclusion to the decade-old 2014 match-fixing investigation.
The meeting’s central focus was to enhance football governance frameworks and establish clear, legally sound mechanisms for resolving the long-standing case, which involves allegations against several players and officials.
President Kamara underscored that a final resolution remains a top institutional priority. He emphasized that the matter's protracted nature necessitates urgent yet procedurally rigorous action to uphold the principles of justice, transparency, and the integrity of the sport.
He formally acknowledged and appreciated Mr. Taylor for attending the meeting and commended his dedicated service at the continental level within CAF, recognizing his role as a positive representation of Sierra Leone's involvement in African football administration.
Mr. Taylor provided an update on the status of the 2014 investigation and other disciplinary matters that were under review prior to the dissolution of the former Ethics Board in 2023. He offered his professional commitment to the current leadership, pledging to facilitate access to relevant documentation and assist the reconstituted Ethics Board in achieving full procedural and factual clarity on the case.
Both parties concurred that strict adherence to due process, institutional continuity, and evidentiary transparency are essential prerequisites for reaching a lawful and definitive conclusion to the outstanding issues.
