SLP Confirms Tragic Death of Rev. Father Augustine Dauda Amadu; Investigations Underway

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have officially confirmed the death of Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu, the respected parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenema. Father Amadu was found deceased in the early hours of Saturday, August 30, 2025, at his residence in the Burma 3 section, on the outskirts of Kenema.

According to a statement released by the SLP, a report was received at approximately 7:43 AM from a Catholic parishioner, indicating that Father Amadu had been attacked overnight by unidentified armed men.

Investigations reveal that the assailants forcibly entered the parish house, where the late priest resided alone, through a damaged window, sometime between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM.

A team of investigators promptly visited the crime scene, and Father Amadu’s remains have since been transferred to the Kenema Government Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

At this stage, authorities have not confirmed whether any property was stolen by the perpetrators.

The motive behind this crime remains unclear, and no suspects have been arrested yet. However, several parishioners and church authorities who reported for early morning service are currently assisting the police with statements.

The Sierra Leone Police assure the public, particularly the Catholic community, that a full-scale investigation is underway to bring the perpetrators of this tragic incident to justice.
