SLP Pass Out 70 FCC Metropolitan Officers
The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has passed out 70 personnel of the Freetown City Council Metropolitan Police Force following the successful completion of an intensive six-week training programme aimed at enhancing civic security and municipal law enforcement across the capital.
Hosted at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy (SILEA), the graduation ceremony showcased the newly trained officers' readiness to deliver professional, disciplined, and community-focused service.
Providing an overview of the curriculum, SILEA Commandant Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Brima Kamara, Esq., detailed that the course focused on three core pillars: academic education, drill and parade, and physical readiness.
“The educational module emphasized professionalism, human rights, and public service responsibilities, while drill and physical conditioning built necessary teamwork, fitness, and operational discipline,”
ACP Kamara stated, noting that rigorous practical and written assessments were administered throughout the course.
The ceremony featured synchronized parade drills and physical demonstrations by two graduating platoons, highlighting the operational transformation achieved over the six-week period.
Delivering the keynote address, Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr spotlighted the critical role the Metropolitan Police play in maintaining order and supporting municipal service delivery for over two million residents.

Mayor Aki-Sawyerr emphasized to the new constables, whilst expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Inspector-General of Police William Fayia Sellu, and the leadership of SILEA for their continuous collaboration in bolstering local law enforcement capacity.
Commending the graduates on their transition from trainees to full constables, the Mayor urged them to uphold high ethical standards and dedicate themselves to serving the people of Freetown with distinction.
The event concluded with the official presentation of graduation certificates, formally inducting the 70 constables into active duty within the Freetown City Council Metropolitan Police Force.
