The Sierra Leone Roads Authority has announced plans to commence essential maintenance works along the Regent–Jui Road, a key route connecting communities in the eastern part of Freetown, which will result in a temporary partial road closure.
According to the Authority, the works will focus on the installation of cross drains at the Kossoh Town/Moko Town Junction, specifically along the stretch between Kossoh Town and the Moko Town Junction. The intervention forms part of ongoing efforts to improve drainage and enhance the durability and safety of the road network.
The maintenance exercise is scheduled to begin on Saturday, 30 May 2026, and is expected to be completed by Saturday, 6 June 2026.
The SLRA clarified that the road will not be completely closed during the period of works. Instead, traffic will be managed through a lane-by-lane control system, allowing motorists to continue using the route via the remaining open lane. However, drivers should expect a controlled flow of traffic and possible delays, particularly during peak hours.
Motorists and commuters using the Regent–Jui corridor have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, exercise caution when approaching the Kossoh Town/Moko Town Junction, and strictly adhere to all traffic management instructions provided by personnel on site.
The Authority emphasized that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to ensure long-term improvements to road safety and infrastructure reliability along the busy corridor.
