SLRA Enforces Load Restrictions on Old Railway Line Bridge Due to Deterioration

The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) announced Tuesday, August 26, 2025, that it has imposed load restrictions on the Old Railway Line Bridge in Brookfields. 

Citing the deteriorating condition of the bridge, the SLRA stated that only cars and light vans with a maximum weight of 4 tons would be permitted to use the bridge.

The Authority further informed the public of its plans to implement necessary measures for the bridge's retrofitting, aiming to restore normal vehicular traffic. 

Additionally, physical barriers will be put in place to enforce the load restrictions.

The SLRA strongly advised motorists to adhere to these instructions when driving along this road section and apologized for any inconvenience caused to road users.
