The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has implemented a stringent no-street parking policy along the Lumley and Aberdeen beach corridors, effective December 19, 2025. This decisive action is a core part of the authority's strategy to enhance traffic flow and safety in these high-traffic recreational areas.
Operating under Regulation 87 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2011, the directive strictly prohibits haphazard street parking, aiming to eliminate obstructions, mitigate congestion, and ensure the unimpeded movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
In cooperation with the Sierra Leone Police, the Joint Traffic Management Team has sanctioned several designated parking areas for public use, including CSE by Family Kingdom, Papa Clef, Gigibonta, Car Wash by Chapter One, and Kallon Car Park. Law enforcement personnel are deployed to these locations to ensure security and orderly parking.
The SLRSA has confirmed that regular patrols by its towing team will be conducted, and any vehicle found violating the directive will be subject to immediate towing. The Authority urges full public compliance to maintain traffic order, public safety, and convenience for all road users.
