Stakeholders Engage to Kick-Start Kpanga Krim Paramount Chieftaincy Election

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs convened a high-level stakeholders’ engagement in Kpanga Krim Chiefdom, Pujehun District, signaling the official start of the process to elect a new Paramount Chief.

The gathering brought together key community leaders, ministry officials, traditional authorities, aspirants, elders, and vibrant delegations of women and youth representatives across the chiefdom.

The election follows the passing of Paramount Chief Samuel Ansumana Saffa Gbonda II. According to Brima Newman Combey, Director of Local Government, the primary objective of the session was to outline procedural rules, legal requirements, and expectations, ensuring all parties are fully aligned prior to polling.

“Our priority is to ensure a peaceful, transparent, credible, and inclusive electoral process,” Combey stressed, calling on stakeholders to uphold chieftaincy laws and avoid divisive tactics.

Pujehun District Officer, Madam Adama Sowa, noted that the forum served as an essential platform for community members to voice concerns, seek clarification, and build consensus around key administrative steps.

Mohamed Olu Koroma, Chairman of the Chiefdom Youth, praised the Ministry’s proactive outreach, emphasizing that early dialogue fosters mutual trust and peaceful participation among residents.

As preparations continue toward selecting a new leader, the Ministry urged all aspirants, traditional authorities, and supporters to practice tolerance, framing the upcoming election as an opportunity to unify and advance development throughout Kpanga Krim.
