Suspect Remanded in Murder Case Involving First Lady's Adopted Son

Sam Momoh, a 28-year-old unemployed individual known as "Mende Boy," has been remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The order was issued by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 following allegations regarding the murder of Joshua Mansaray, the adopted son of the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
The defendant faces two criminal counts: conspiracy to commit murder and murder, pursuant to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, as amended by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021.
Court records indicate that on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Lodge Junction, Kingharman Road, Freetown, the defendant allegedly conspired with unidentified individuals to commit the felony after accusing him of attempting to steal a motorbike.
The second count specifies that the defendant murdered Joshua Mansaray at the aforementioned time and location.
The defendant did not enter a formal plea after the charges were read and explained to the court.
Prosecuting Counsel C.S.P. Tommy B. Zizer Esq. confirmed that the prosecution's statement bundle had been served to the defendant, who acknowledged receipt of the documents.
The defendant appeared without legal representation during the initial proceedings.
Magistrate Jah denied bail and ordered the defendant to be held at the Male Correctional Facility.
The matter has been adjourned until March 17, 2026, for further hearing.
