Teenager Remanded Over Alleged Break-In and Theft in Freetown

Eighteen-year-old Alimamy Bangura has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on allegations of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on June 2, 2026, at No. 23 Carlton Carew Road, off Wilkinson Road, in the Western Area of Freetown, Bangura allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Sarah Tarawalie with the intent to steal.

The prosecution alleges that during the incident, cash and other assorted items were stolen from the residence.

When the charge was read and explained to Bangura, he did not enter a plea because the matter is before the court as a committal proceeding.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, representing the prosecution, informed the court that he had served Bangura with copies of the case file and inquiry documents. The accused acknowledged receipt of the documents.

Magistrate Fornah, citing the seriousness of the alleged offence, refused bail and remanded Bangura at the Male Correctional Centre.

The matter has been adjourned to September 29, 2026, for further proceedings.
