Three men have been sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison after being convicted of car break-in and theft in Murray Town, Freetown.

The convicted men Joseph Bangura, 33, a footballer; Samuel Jallohson, 29, a businessman; and Mohamed Sesay, 27, a fisherman appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1. They faced charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny.

Police reports indicate that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 14 July 2025, when the suspects allegedly conspired with unknown accomplices to break into a Honda CR-V5 vehicle with registration number AWD 825.

The stolen items belonged to Gladys Nanilla Kamara and included US$3,861 (equivalent to Le2,717,000), a Samsung mobile phone valued at Le1,000, a power bank worth Le4,990, an air phone, a pair of lens glasses, two service passport booklets, a computer bag, and other personal effects totaling Le132,724.

After reviewing the evidence, the court found all three defendants guilty. Each was sentenced to five years in prison, taking into account the time they had already served.
