Two Keke Riders Committed to High Court Over Assault at Hill Station

Alimamy Mohamed Bangura, 25, and Bai Bangura, 26, have been committed to the High Court to face trial over charges of causing grievous bodily harm, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The two defendants appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. They are accused of a violent incident that reportedly left a man, John Lefevre, injured at a local hill station.

According to police indictments, the alleged assault occurred on Thursday, 15 January 2026, at Phase 1 Gbangbayillah, Hill Station, Freetown. The charges state that both men intentionally wounded Lefevre, causing him grievous bodily harm, and also assaulted him in a manner that resulted in actual bodily injury.

During the court session, the charges were read to the defendants, but they did not enter a plea. Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K represented the prosecution, while S.I. Koroma acted as defence counsel.

After reviewing the prosecution’s evidence, including the defendants’ caution statements and exhibits tendered in court, Magistrate Fornah ruled that there was sufficient evidence to commit the case to the High Court for trial.

The magistrate granted bail of Le 50,000 to each defendant, with an equal sum required from their sureties. The sureties must be responsible residents of Freetown with fixed addresses and valid National Voter or National ID cards. Bail was granted under section 116(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act of 2024, pending approval from the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

The case will now proceed to the High Court, where Alimamy Mohamed Bangura and Bai Bangura will face a full trial to determine their culpability in the assault and wounding of John Lefevre.
