At Magistrate Court No.1 in Kenema on 20 November 2025, two men were found guilty of drug possession offences and committed to stand trial at the High Court of Sierra Leone.
The first defendant, Joshua Peter of 26 Musu Street, Lekpetieh, was found on 1 November 2025 in possession of 28 pink circular tramadol tablets and 8 pink oblong tramadol capsules. Peter pleaded guilty and asked for mercy. He was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by Magistrate Hadiru
The second defendant, Fomba Gibao Kosia of Kenema City, was found on 23 October 2025 at College Community, Circular Road, in possession of 40 grams of Kush. The drugs, seized by the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), were analyzed by a forensic toxicologist and confirmed as prohibited substances.
In his ruling, Magistrate Daboh noted that the prosecution had discharged its duties, leaving the court no option but to commit Kosia to stand trial at the High Court.
