A magistrate has committed two men, Ishmail Nabieu and Bala Marah, to the High Court for trial after finding sufficient evidence against them on charges of conspiracy, assault, and wounding.
The accused, a mason and a carpenter respectively, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2. They face four charges stemming from an incident on April 16, 2025, in the Black Tank area of Adonkia, Goderich, Western Area of Freetown.
According to court documents, Nabieu and Marah are alleged to have conspired with unknown individuals to commit a felony, specifically wounding with intent. They are further accused of wounding Baimaro Sesay with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and of maliciously wounding and assaulting Sesay, resulting in actual bodily harm.
Neither of the accused entered a plea when the charges were read in court.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Joan M. S. Bull, presented five corroborating witnesses and a medical report as evidence. The defense, represented by lawyer S. K. Fofanh, was present as the magistrate reviewed the evidence.
After considering the testimonies and medical report, Magistrate Fornah ruled that both men have a case to answer and are to stand trial at the High Court. In accordance with Section 120(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965, their existing bail conditions remain unchanged as they await their next court appearance.
