In an effort to support vulnerable community members and promote social welfare, the United Pujehun District Association (UPDA) has donated essential food supplies to 68 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across the district.

The distribution ceremony, held at the Pujehun Court Barry, brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Welfare Society for the Disabled Sierra Leone, the Sierra Leone Union on Disability Issues, local media, and Paramount Chief Andrew Ibrahim Jaiah Kaikai of Kpanga Chiefdom.

According to UPDA President and Founder Patrick Daddy Kanyako, the initiative is designed to provide immediate relief to beneficiaries while reinforcing the organization's commitment to assisting individuals who frequently face obstacles accessing basic necessities.

"This initiative highlights the vital importance of community solidarity, social inclusion, and collective responsibility in addressing the needs of vulnerable groups across our district,"

Kanyako stated, adding that the relief package—comprising rice, seasoning cubes, and salt—aims to alleviate household food burdens and offer encouragement to families.

UPDA Secretary General Mohamed Kemokai emphasized that persons with disabilities remain integral members of society who deserve equal opportunities, dignity, and access to essential services. He noted that civil society and hometown associations play a crucial role in complementing public efforts to elevate vulnerable populations.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the recipients, Mohamed T.S. Koroma described the donation as a timely intervention and a positive step toward fostering compassion and inclusivity in Pujehun District.
