Wilberforce Strikers Secure Late Win in Premier League Opener
Wilberforce Strikers commenced their 2026/2027 Leone Rock Premier League campaign on a triumphant note, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bhantal FC.
As the match seemed destined for a stalemate, Yusif "Neto" Kamara broke the deadlock in the 89th minute. Capitalizing on a precise assist from Paul Sesay, Kamara slotted home the first goal of the new league season to claim all three points for his side.
The late strike sparked jubilant celebrations among the Wilberforce Strikers faithful, rewarding their patience following 90 minutes of competitive football.
Conversely, the defeat proved devastating for Bhantal FC, whose defensive resolve was undone in the final moments of regulation time after staving off attacks for most of the contest.
Wilberforce Strikers' victory was equally anchored by a solid defensive display. Goalkeeper Sidikie Kargbo recorded a clean sheet, while defender Nasiru Jimissa was named Man of the Match following a standout performance.
