Youth Remanded in Alleged Sexual Offence Against a Child

A youth has been remanded following an alleged sexual offence against a child. In the quiet formality of High Court No. 1, a serious allegation was recorded, and a case still awaiting evidence was set to continue.
Twenty-seven-year-old mason Jaiah Jusu Amara has been remanded to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Justice Adrian Fisher at the High Court on Siaka Stevens Street. He faces one count of sexual penetration under Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012, as amended by the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 2019.
The charge alleges that on 17 November 2025, in Freetown, Amara sexually penetrated a child under the age of 18. The allegation has not been proven in court. When the charge was read and explained, Amara pleaded not guilty. Asked by the judge whether he knew the complainant, he said he used to help her with schoolwork and that they lived together.
State prosecutor Musa Pious Sesay, Esq., requested a short adjournment to present witnesses. Amara was represented by Randy Bangura, Esq. Justice Fisher adjourned the matter to 23 October 2026.
Until then, the case remains before the court, where allegations must be tested through evidence and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
