11-Year-Old NPSE Champion Bethany Davies Meets Education Minister

Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Conrad Sackey has received 11-year-old NPSE champion Bethany Davies and her mother at the Ministry following her outstanding performance in the National Primary School Examination (NPSE).

Sackey congratulated Bethany on her achievement, attributing her success to her dedication, the commitment of her teachers and the support of her family. He described the meeting as an opportunity to recognise academic excellence and encourage outstanding pupils.

The Minister also commended Bethany’s decision to pursue her secondary education at Annie Walsh Secondary School, describing her choice of a government institution as a strong indication of confidence in Sierra Leone’s public education system.

He stressed the importance of creating a public education system where high-performing pupils can thrive and pursue their academic ambitions, saying Bethany’s achievement demonstrates what is possible when pupils receive the necessary support and encouragement.

Sackey encouraged teachers, parents and other education stakeholders to draw inspiration from Bethany’s success and urged her to maintain the same commitment and determination throughout her secondary education.

“Congratulations, Bethany. Your nation is proud of you,” the Minister said.

Bethany’s visit follows her emergence as the top performer in the 11-year-old category of the NPSE, marking the beginning of her next academic chapter at Annie Walsh Secondary School.
